A Light on The Magdalena brings a fresh and highly readable narrative to the fictional coming of age story of young Ellie raised on Colombia’s Magdalena River in the 1960s. It’s a simple, secluded life with her Christian missionary family in a magical environment where Ellie daydreams of romantic faraway places and people she’s only read about in her small collection of books received on birthdays and Christmases.
